Graduation Favors: Bring a Little Pop to Your Party

Are you planning a graduation party and looking for cost-effective and fun party favors? Look no further than popcorn! Popcorn is not only a crowd-pleaser but also a budget-friendly option that can be personalized to match your theme. In this blog post, we'll guide you through the process of creating delightful popcorn favors that your guests will love. Let's get started!

Step 1: Choose Your Popcorn

The first step is to decide on the type of popcorn you want to use. You can either purchase pre-made popcorn or make your own. If you opt for store-bought popcorn, consider visiting your favorite local store or warehouse club like Sam's Club. Alternatively, you can make your own popcorn using a popcorn maker or the stovetop method. Whichever option you choose, ensure that the popcorn is fresh and delicious.

Step 2: Select a Container

After you've selected your popcorn, you'll need to figure out what kind of container to use. You can choose bags or boxes to hold your popcorn favors, however, whatever you choose should properly fit the serving size you plan to provide each guest. You don't want to make the container too big and have it feel empty but you also don't want the treats to be bursting out of the container and making a mess! Whichever you prefer, you can find suitable options on online platforms like Amazon or by visiting local party supply stores. At KK&S, we personally prefer using clear containers that showcase the popcorn even after we add embellishments--which brings us to step 3!

Step 3: Add Some Personality

To add a special touch to your popcorn favors, you can personalize each box with something like a favor tag. You can make these at home with paper crafts, however if you're looking for something a bit more glam (or just aren't feeling very crafty yourself) you can order custom acrylic or wood laser-cut tags to match your event. This latter option can be an especially nice way to tie your favors in with the rest of your event décor if you're already getting other custom items, such as table signage or centerpieces! If you're unsure what to put on your favors, we like to customize the tags with the graduate's name, graduation year, or any other relevant information our client provides--however it's truly up to you! And of course, make sure to use colors that coordinate with your event to create a cohesive look. This goes for any other embellishments you add as well, which takes us to the final step.

Step 4: Assemble and Enjoy

When assembling your favors, it's a good idea to wear gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints and to keep everything sanitary. Use a scoop to fill the popcorn bags more easily--mini scoops from stores like Dollar Tree work perfectly for little favors and these small precautions will help maintain a clean, effortless presentation. After everything is added into your containers you can adhere your embellishments--we recommend adorning your container with a ribbon as it will add a nice pop of color and texture while also helping seal the container to prevent air from entering. This comes in handy if your party is still a few days away, though in that case we also recommend storing the bags in a sealed box away from heat and light to maintain their freshness.

Bonus Step: Displaying Your Favors

With the favors prepared, you can now cross "event favors" off your checklist and get ready to celebrate the graduation in style. However, if you don't plan on handing out each favor yourself--and depending on your guest list that might really not be feasible--then knowing how to display your favors is a must! We recommend displaying your popcorn favors on a dedicated table where guests can easily see them. You can even place a "Please Take One" sign to on the table to encourage guests to grab a bag for later or enjoy the popcorn during the event with your other snacks and foods. Your thoughtfully crafted favors will surely make your guests feel appreciated and leave a lasting impression.
